Health Centers

Community Health Centers are non-profit community owned and governed organizations that meet the criteria under section 330 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C.254b). CHC status is awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC).

Federally funded Community Health Centers are required to provide or make provisions for on a "sliding fee scale" primary medical, dental, mental health and preventive health care services in medically underserved areas to everyone. Arkansas currently has 12 Federally Qualified Health Center sites and 59 sites.
