Job Title: Project Coordinator: Northwest Arkansas Tobacco Free Coalition


Department: Community Clinic Development; direct report to Outreach Coordinator. The position is contingent upon receipt of grant funding.


Summary of Position: This position will be responsible for the facilitation of the local tobacco prevention and implementation of tobacco control policy initiatives. Project Coordinator will support will implement grant-supported action plan according to established timelines.



  • Decrease exposure to secondhand smoke

  • Prevent youth initiation

  • Decrease advertising and promotion of tobacco products

  • Promote cessation among adults and youth

Qualifications: B.S. or B.A. required. Experience in one of more of the following areas preferred; health education, social work, public relations, political science, communications, volunteer development, or community development. Bilingual (Spanish) is required.


Essential Job functions


Essential job functions are based on the implementation of the Northwest Arkansas Tobacco Free Coalition grant-supported action plan according to established timelines. Activities should be planned to help design and target interventions. Community actions should lead to the adoption and enforcement of policies, including voluntary policies.



  • Perform autonomously and exercise discretion and independent judgment while working closely with community and coalition members to implement community mobilization.

  • Communicate with the supervisor and coalition on a regular basis.  Provide outreach meeting reports with established goals and timelines. 

  • Must work with representatives from diverse segments of the population including multi-cultural interests to address disparities.

  • Implement grant-supported work plans according to the established timeline.

  • Responsible for the development of collaborative community and minority partnerships to share resources and address tobacco prevention and to increase advocate-activity.

  • Plan, promote and facilitate community-based initiatives for tobacco prevention and education, grant supported meetings and events.

  • Manage budget and present regular financial statements to supervisor and CFO

  • Provide outside evaluators, Community Clinic,  University of Arkansas Pine Bluff and Arkansas Department of Health with relevant and timely information,

  • Responsible for  all grant related reports and benchmarks

  • Develop message delivery for news media, volunteers, stakeholders and decision makers in accordance with action plans.
