CHCA Congratulates Arkansas Do-Gooders

The Foundation for the Mid South announced today the 2010 Do-Gooders winners. Foundation for the Mid South Do-Gooders was created to generate enthusiasm around the good deeds of nonprofits and individuals in the Mid South—Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

CHCA Awarded Governor's Quality Commitment Award

Eighteen organizations from throughout the state were presented Arkansas Governor’s Quality Awards during the 16th Annual Awards Celebration for the Governor’s Quality Award Program on Monday evening, November 15th at the Peabody Hotel Little Rock. Approximately 260 business and civic leaders from throughout Arkansas attended the celebration.

A Culture Inspired: CHCA 2010 Annual Conference in Review

U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln stated, “Community Health Centers are a critical component of what is right and good about health care reform,” during her address to CHCA Annual Conference attendees. Craig Kennedy, Associate VP of Federal and State Affairs for NACHC, expressed his feelings that Community Health Centers are not simply the best model of care for the poor and uninsured, but are the best model of care for all primary health care. These sentiments pervaded this year’s conference. The conference theme, “Inspiring a Culture of Excellence: Innovation, Leadership, Quality,” aimed to prepare the Arkansas CHC staff members, board members, and partners in attendance for the landscape change of health care reform implementation. Over 200 attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors participated in this year’s conference.

Corning Area Healthcare, Inc. Receives Three Quality Achievement Awards at Recent AFMC Quality Conference

Corning Area Healthcare receives three AFMC Quality Achievement AwardsFamily Medical Center in Corning, Community Healthcare Center in Walnut Ridge, and the Pocahontas Family Medical Center received Quality Achievement Awards during the recent Quality Conference hosted by the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care on May 20-21. All three were awarded for their use of the Patient Electronic Care System (PECS) which resulted in improved processes for clinic staff and providers and improved delivery of care for patients.

The Pocahontas Family Medical Center used PECS data to identify quality improvement needs. They used the information gained to raise awareness of clinic staff in the importance of timely and accurate completion of PECS data sheets, which resulted in improved delivery of care and patient outcomes.

Sip Mouden Inducted Into NACHC Grassroots Hall of Fame

The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) has inducted Sip Mouden, Chief Executive Officer of Community Health Centers of Arkansas, Inc. (CHCA) in North Little Rock, AR, into the NACHC Grassroots Hall of Fame. The recognition honors the dedication and energetic efforts by advocates to rally public and political support for the strength and expansion of America’s Health Centers. She was presented the Hall of Fame Award at the 35th Annual NACHC Policy and Issues Forum in Washington, D.C., an event attended by more than 2,000 health center leaders from around the country.
