State Partners Address Health Care Reform Initiatives

[LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, June 14, 2011]– In response to the rapidly evolving health care delivery environment and proposed changes, Community Health Centers of Arkansas, Inc. is hosting “Partnerships in Transformation: A Summit on Integrated Health Care Delivery,” on June 14-15, 2011 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Little Rock, AR.

The purpose of the Summit is to provide a venue to foster collaboration and strengthen partnerships between Arkansas Community Health Centers and partner organizations. Conference sessions and workgroups will address the issues of Medicaid and Health Care Transformation, Payment Reform, Integrated Health Care Delivery, Workforce, Patient-Centered Medical Homes, Accountable Care Organizations, Health Information Technology/Health Information Exchange, Health Insurance Exchange, and Health Literacy at the national as well as state level. 

“Summit attendees will hear from national experts as to what and how other states are addressing these Health Care Reform issues ” says Sip Mouden, CEO of Community Health Centers of Arkansas; and,  will have an opportunity, through participation in various workgroups, to discuss and make recommendations for shaping the future of the Arkansas’ Health Care Delivery System”  

Governor Mike Bebee will present the keynote address during lunch on Tuesday, June 14, at 11:30 am. Tuesday afternoon speakers will address the National Perspective of Integrated Health Care Delivery. Speakers include Neva Kaye, Managing Director of the National Academy for State Health Policy, Robin Arnold-Williams, Senior Advisor for Leavitt Partners, Clese Erikson, Director of Workforce Research for the Center for Workforce Studies at the Association of American Medical Colleges, and William Tulloch, Director of Government Recognition Initiatives for the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

The Summit will feature a panel discussion on Arkansas’ Four Health Care Initiatives on Wednesday, June 15, at 8:10 am. Panel speakers include the Governor appointed leaders of each initiative: Dr. Daniel W. Rahn, Chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Ray Scott, Arkansas Health Information Technology (HIT) Coordinator for the Arkansas Office of HIT, John Selig, Director of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, and Jay Bradford, Commissioner of the Arkansas Insurance Department.

 Roby Brock, host of Talk Business, and Dr. Joseph Bates, Deputy State Health Officer and Chief Science Officer of the Arkansas Department of Health, will speak on the Impact of Health Care Reform on the State of Arkansas during Wednesday’s lunch at 12:00 pm.

 Arkansas’ 12 Community Health Centers and their 73 Health Center locations provide affordable, comprehensive, quality, healthcare services to over 150,000 Arkansans who call CHCs their “Medical/Healthcare Home”.
