Resource Development

CHCA is passionately committed to its mission β€œTo develop and protect the resources that ensure quality healthcare for all.” In light of that mission, CHCA pursues a variety of additional funding sources, provides purchasing support, and works to streamline the communication process between the CHCA staff and CHC staff around the state.

  • Grant Research and Writing, Fundraising, and Development
CHCA continuously researches, develops and submits grants to provide additional funding streams for the expansion and sustainability of community health center programs and services.  CHCA also seeks alternative funding sources through fundraising, trust funds, private foundations, and other funding opportunities.
  • Capital Needs Planning
CHCA, in a partnership with Capital Link, proactively initiated Capital Needs Planning with nine of the twelve CHCs. The Capital Needs Planning activities included – work plan development, market assessment, space planning and preliminary project budgeting, lease vs. buy analysis, preliminary financial projections, business plan development, and identifying and creating a financial plan; as well as conducting a statewide economic impact analysis and financial trends analysis.  The results of those individual CHCs and statewide capital needs assessments and impact results on the statewide economy are used to secure additional funding for the CHCs.
  • Purchasing Support
In addition to pursuing additional funding, CHCA seeks to help CHCs improve their bottom line through the pursuit of new business lines and by providing purchasing support, which includes researching and negotiating prices for medical supplies, equipment, and technology needs.
  • Executive Abstracts
CHCA also develops resources to facilitate communication, collaboration, and information sharing between and among CHCA and its 12 member CHCs. Through the use of executive abstracts, CHCA provides current information on policy issues, legislation updates, and grant opportunities in a format that is quickly read and easily absorbed.
  • SharePoint
CHCA used the Microsoft SharePoint software package to develop an online resource, collaboration, and communication portal for its members.
