Susan Ward-Jones, M.D., CEO of East Arkansas Family Health Center, Inc. (EAFHC), has been elected to lead the Board of Community Health Centers of Arkansas (CHCA), the largest primary care network in the state.

When the hospital in Corning, Arkansas closed its doors in 1990, a community refused to go without. A group of neighbors led by Brigitte McDonald, a former employee of the hospital, wrote a grant, applied for a federally qualified health center designation, and got to work. 1st Choice Healthcare opened in 1994. McDonald has been there every year since. She serves as the health center’s Chief Executive Officer.

For nearly 40 years, Mid-Delta Health Systems has been delivering quality, affordable healthcare to the heart of the Arkansas Delta. Based in the Monroe County city of Clarendon, Mid-Delta also has clinics in DeWitt and Stuttgart as well as a school-based location: Lion’s Clinic in Clarendon.

Community Health Centers of Arkansas was proud to participate in the 9th Biennial Minority Health Summit on Friday, April 17. This year's theme was A Bridge to Care: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Heart Health in Minority Arkansans. It set the tone for a day of powerful conversations, bold commitments, and a renewed focus on health equity across the state.
